“Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me" (Acts 12:11).

What follows is the experience of Brother Josué Ferreira, a member of our church in Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil:

Around the year 1990, my wife Edna, our children, and I traveled to Passos, a city in the state of Minas Gerais in order to spend a week’s vacation at my mother-in-law’s house.

Passos is a lovely city, and its residents are very hospitable and enjoy hosting visitors. While we were there, we decided to also visit Edna’s grandfather’s farm. We arrived at the farm—there the children rode horses, milked the cows, and enjoyed the fresh milk with “cevada” (a barley drink).

But, just as all good things must come to an end in this earth, we had to return home and back to our duties.

Edna’s grandfather always counseled us to set out before dawn for our trips, and in case the car would break down along the way, the sun would rise soon and daylight would be only a few hours away. So, Edna and I put our three sleeping children into the car, and left before daybreak.

There was heavy fog all along the way. The roads were in a terrible condition—full of curves, potholes, ascents, long descents, and no shoulder on which we could stop.

We reached a point on the road where it was impossible to see more than a few inches from the windshield. We couldn’t see where we were, or where we were going.  Even though we wanted to stop, we were afraid to get off the road without knowing what was hiding behind the dense curtain of fog surrounding the road.

We began to pray and ask God’s direction and guidance in order not to fall off a cliff or any other danger hidden from our eyes.

It was at that exact moment that two red lights appeared in front of us. The lights seemed to be of a truck. We had no doubt that it was the hand of God guiding us, and we continued following the lights until the fog was lifted.

But when the fog lifted, there was no truck in front of us!

Until today when I tell this story I get chills and become emotional on how God’s hand is always protecting us. All we have to do is "ask."

“As the sun disperses the clouds from its path, so will the Sun of Righteousness remove the obstacles to our progress. We may cheer our souls by looking at the things unseen that will cheer and animate us in our journey.”—Christ Triumphant, p. 80.

Whenever the fog of life surrounds you, keep looking forward and trusting in God, for He will remove obstacles and prosper your journey with Jesus.
