Lessons from the Resurrection: Go and Tell

Have you ever wondered what that Sabbath was like? The Sabbath right after the crucifixion. How confused, sad, worn, and turmoiled the disciples must have been. Perhaps their church services were canceled that weekend.
“But David said to Saul, “I, your servant, have been keeping my father’s sheep. When a lion or bear came and took a sheep from the flock, I would chase it. I would attack it and save the sheep from its mouth. When it attacked me, I caught it by its fur. I would hit it and kill it.
The controversy between Jesus and the Pharisees concerning the Sabbath never involved the question whether or not the Sabbath should be observed.
Following the example of Jesus’ parents, Christian parents today also dedicate their children to God with a ceremony in the church.
The Son of God was born on earth with no evil inclinations. He was also born as any other child: in need of instruction and education in both worldly and spiritual matters.
EDUCATIONAL CONTEXT
Luke 2 offers a glimpse into Jesus' childhood and youth. It says, “Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man,” (Luke 2:52). What does it mean to be in favor with God and man? Is that possible for us to accomplish?
IN FAVOR WITH GOD
Mary and Joseph are two figures in history whose brief mentions in the Bible deserve our study and admiration. Perhaps because some have gone from respect to veneration of Jesus’ earthly parents, we erroneously shy away from discussing their noteworthy faith.
As Christians, we consider ourselves temporary sojourners on earth and citizens of a heavenly kingdom. What does that signify concerning our civic duties during our time here on earth? Jesus set the example in all particulars of life, including this one.
Perhaps one of the most evident lessons gleaned from the life of Christ is the lesson of humility. It is interwoven into His story here on Earth from its very beginning in Bethlehem to its very end at Golgotha.
