The Welfare Department has begun a campaign to help the children of our brethren and friends in Africa. With monthly donations, often the price of a treat we would give ourselves, you can sponsor a child and change their lives forever!
NORTH KIVU
We are finalizing the construction of a school in North Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This school will have 600 students. After doing our research, we concluded that US$10 covers the cost of feeding a child in North Kivu for a month. A further US$5, covers the education of a child of 9 years of age or younger. The school has 10 classrooms that will serve 300 students in the morning and another 300 in the afternoon. One classroom is already running.
Volunteers are working tirelessly to guarantee the success of this campaign. Your donations, however, are needed to make this school a reality. Donations are sent via the GC's PayPal or via your local treasury (which sends your offerings to the GC).
KENYA
On Monday morning, March 19, Brother André Devai (Welfare Department Director) visited an orphanage run by a pastor who has overseen this beautiful work for about ten years.
Pastor Lamech is also a psychologist and cares for 80 children, nearly half of whom are orphans, having neither father nor mother. The other half are children from the region, who are sent by their parents to study at the local orphanage school.
Brother Devai was deeply impressed by the children's order, discipline, joy, and abilities. The place is very simple, like everything else in Africa, but the children are well cared for and well fed. It is a place where the glory of God shines!
This work began in Pastor Lamech's own home, which he transformed into an orphanage and school. However, now the demand has outgrown the current facilities. We need to help our brother build new lodgings and new classrooms for the children. Each one urgently needs a sponsor. US$25 a month guarantees complete care and cover all expenses for a child, including food, lodgings, and education.
