March's First Sabbath Offerings went towards the GC Welfare Department's Disaster Relief Fund. This money is used to respond to natural disasters and the chaos in its wake. Not long after March's offering was taken up, Mozambique, Malawi, and Zimbabwe were hit with the worst tropical cyclone in recent history.
We continue receiving updates on the aftermath of Cyclone Idai, specifically as it affected our brethren. In Mozambique, 28 families either lost their homes completely or partially, and churches were also affected. We thank God that there were no fatalities among our brethren.
For immediate assistance, the brethren from other parts of the country were able to raise funds among themselves to help supply the affected families with the basic materials, such as rice, beans, soap, oil, flour, and other basic items.
However, many families will have to rebuild their homes as the cyclone flattened houses, tore down walls, and ripped apart roofs. And most will need continued assistance until the fields are ready to be worked again and businesses return to normal. This is where your offerings come in. Will you help them rebuild?
From Zambia we receive the following note from Brother Joseph K.:
"Thank [you] brethren and sisters, Amen! We are appreciating your care about sending us help, food, medicine, clothing, shelter, and most of all, comfort for many lost our family members. This is a real sign of Godliness, care[ing] for widows and orphans, the Bibles talks about. Thank [you] people of God. Please keep it up this Spirit. Amen and Thank [you] so much."
You can still make a difference in the life of your fellow brethren by donating through your local church or by clicking here and contributing to the "Welfare Department" fund.
