A momentous anniversary, a solemn thought

One hundred seventy years have passed since the great disappointment happened, when more than 50,000 believers in the Advent message were expecting the second coming of Christ to purify the “sanctuary” (which they believed was the planet earth).

 

Many had abandoned their employment, their harvest, their business, believing that October 22nd would be their last day on earth. In preparation for that event, there was reconciliation, payment of debts, and gathering of the family and friends foreseeing Christ’s arrival to take them to the heavenly home.

A blessing with an international flavor!

 

On October 11, 2014, the Roanoke Church received a wonderful blessing. For several days in September and October, the brethren from the General Conference Council, Doctrinal Council, Regional Secretaries, and Departmental officers were meeting at the GC headquarters to consider various points in preparation for the 22nd GC Delegation Session to be held in Virginia in 2015. So, while these officers were in town, we were able to enjoy a high Sabbath with them together with the visit of brethren, sisters, and friends both from here and from neighboring states.

2014 Kenya Medical Mission

Christ teaches His disciples to relieve suffering humanity

Between August 3 and 16, 2014, 72 volunteers from 10 different countries travelled to Kenya to participate in the Medical Mission which was held in the locality of Ringa, Homa Bay County. After flying into Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, the volunteers journeyed to the city of Nakuru, where the Kenya Mission has its headquarters--and there they were trained for the mission project.

Youth Convention and Baptism in Mexico

 On July 23-27, 2014, a Youth Convention was held in Fortín de las Flores, Veracruz, Mexico.

 

 During the Youth Convention the brethren were joyful for the opportunity to witness the baptism of a young couple. Praise be to the Lord!
