Following the natural disasters that have rocked Haiti in recent years, families of our church brethren were having difficulties to maintain themselves. A bakery was begun as a way for families to become self-supporting.

HAITI—Devastating hurricanes, tropical storms, and earthquakes have all been part of Haiti's recent history. As a result, the country has faced many difficulties, which have in turn affected our church brethren. Families within the church were having a hard time finding jobs to maintain themselves.

With the help of the Welfare Department, a bakery was begun as a way for families to become self-supporting. The necessary equipment was purchased, including a generator as the circumstances in the country are such that most of the time there is not sufficient energy to keep the bakery running.

Today, twelve families are able to work in and live off of the bakery. The brethren are directly involved in the making, baking, and selling of the bread. God bless their labor that it may prove a blessing to them and to the community in which they work.
