First Sabbath Offering
Sabbath, December 5, 2026 for a Church in Brazzaville, Republic of the CongoThe city of Brazzaville is in the capital of the Republic of the Congo, located in Central Africa. Brazzaville is just west of the Democratic Republic of Congo—whose capital is Kinshasa–and together these two cities constitute the two closest cities in the world. (There are two Congos due to colonial history when different European powers colonized these adjacent regions and named them after the Congo River.)The Republic of Congo covers an area of 125,097 square miles (342,000 km2), with an overall population of 6,484,437 (2025) inhabitants. Covering an area of 101.9 square miles (263.9 km2), Brazzaville the capital has a population of nearly 2.8 million inhabitants, of which around 75% are Christians: 90% Catholics and 10% Evangelical Protestants—mostly Kimbaguists. The rest adhere to traditional animist beliefs in African messianism or remain atheists. The languages spoken are: French (official language), Lingala and Kikongo. The message of the SDARM first entered Brazzaville in 2013, when a missionary came for four days and brought the Reform message to two young couples. Three months later, he returned—and in 27 days, the five of them reached 41 souls. The next year, seminars providing additional studies were brought to the area, and a large percentage of the believers took their stand for the present truth. Since 2021, a graduate of the RAMA Missionary School in Congo has served as a Bible worker for the Brazzaville Church. One challenge here has been having a suitable place for worship. The brethren meet in an old building that has been abandoned by the owner, and they need to cover it with a few long plastic sheets. During the rainy season, these conditions make it very difficult to meet regularly.Nonetheless, the Brazzaville Church is growing. On average, every Sabbath 30 people gather here to worship the Lord. At this time, the brothers and sisters of this group are turning their hope towards you—our brethren around the world—so that by your benevolent generosity, you can contribute financially for the acquisition of land in order to build a more suitable temple to His honor and glory.
