The Seventh-day Sabbath

Genesis 2:2, 3 The seventh day was set apart for a holy purpose at creation; God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it.

Exodus 16:14–30 He reminded them of the Sabbath at the giving of the manna 2500 years later.

Exodus 20:8–11 He included it in the Ten Commandments repeated at Sinai, identifying Himself as the Creator and the rightful ruler of the universe.

Ezekiel 20:12, 20 The seventh-day Sabbath is a sign that we know the God of heaven who sanctifies us.

Matthew 5:17–19 Christ said that all of the moral law of Ten Commandments should be kept, that no part was to be destroyed.

Mark 2:27 The Sabbath was not made merely for the Jews, but for all mankind, for our benefit.

Luke 4:16 Christ, our Example, worshiped on the Sabbath.

Matthew 12:8 Christ is Lord of the Sabbath.

Luke 23:56 After Jesus died, His disciples still kept the Sabbath.

Acts 17:2; 18:4 The apostle Paul and the early Christians kept the Sabbath.

Acts 13:14, 42–44 The Gentile Christians kept the Sabbath just as the Jewish believers did.

Revelation 1:10 The Sabbath brought spiritual blessing to the apostle John. Other than the seventh day, there is no other day in all of the Bible specifically blessed as the Lord’s day.

Isaiah 66:22, 23 The Sabbath will continue to be a memorial in the earth made new.
