On May 26-29, the first SDARM International Digital Evangelism Symposium was held in Brasília, Brazil. Brethren from various parts of Brazil were present, as well as individuals from other countries in Central and South America, specifically Honduras and Bolivia. The event was also broadcasted online and was thus able to reach an even larger audience, including individuals from Canada and France.
The initiative stemmed from a collaborated effort by the Connected with God Project, the SDARM Media Studio in Brazil, and both North and South Brazilian Unions. The objective of the event was to bring together professionals in the topic to offer training, as well as to facilitate an exchange of experiences and the establishment of links between the various existing initiatives in the church that are focused on evangelism in the digital world.
In order to achieve this goal, the event included talks on current means of communication, seminars about digital evangelism, and workshops on digital photography, video editing, web design, marketing, and programming. Other lectures were given concerning the challenges the church faces within our digital reality, and case studies of problems that have occurred. There was also time dedicated towards interaction among participants who shared ideas, personal experiences, and strategies used for digital evangelism.
By the end of the seminar, new projects were born, and plans of actions were put into motion. We pray that God will continue blessing this work in the digital field.
