The Indianapolis Church held its spring conference gathering on the weekend of May 27-29, 2016. We began our conference Friday evening with a study, “In the School of Jesus,” presented to us by Br. Boris Gurduiala. He shared what it means to be in the school of Jesus and we can be learners.
On Sabbath morning, the brethren began to arrive about 9:00 a.m. from both far and near to a beautiful fifty-six-acre campground just outside of Indianapolis. Br. Brandon Balbach shared with us the review lesson after which we were divided into adult’s, young people’s and children’s classes. Br. Emiliano taught the Spanish class and Br. George presented the English lesson. The youth class was taught by Br. Alex Gurduiala and we were also blessed to have Br. Sureshkumar participating with us. The theme for Divine Service was “His People” presented by Br. D. Sureshkumar. He brought out how we are a peculiar people and are to be different from the world because we have been saved by Jesus’ blood. Various special items were shared with all to God’s honor and glory.
On this day, Heaven’s arches were ringing with the voices of angels for five of God’s precious children were to be baptized. Br. Vukotic conducted the Profession of Faith. At the baptism and welcoming into the fellowship of the Seventh Day Adventist Reform Movement of Sandra Duarte, Onam Amaya, Heidy Avila, Madeline Avila, and Rebecca Estevez, Br. Sureshkumar reminded us of Jesus’ baptism and how God had said, “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.” Then four of the candidates presented a song, “For Those Tears I Died,” that held much meaning to them, especially at that moment; it told the story of their struggle and how many times they pushed Him away, but He still saw their tears and heard their cries.
The baptism was held at the beach site of a beautiful lake, north of the city. Br. Vukotic baptized his granddaughter, Rebecca Estevez. Br. Sureshkumar baptized Madeline, Heidy and Onam; and Bro. Boris baptized Sis. Sandra. As each candidate was brought down into the water it was as witnessing the Lord showing His smiling face on His children because though there were thick clouds covering the sun, at the right moment the clouds parted and the sun started shining through. It truly was a blessing from the Lord.
During the Sabbath, we had the opportunity to come in contact with brethren, sisters, and visitors from Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, Georgia, and Arizona, as well as many who came from the local church of Indianapolis. A total of more than 130 attendees were present to receive the messages. We thank God for a wonderful time of fellowship and spiritual refreshment.
