First Sabbath Offering
Sabbath, October 4, 2025 The Lesotho Mission in South AfricaLesotho is a small, landlocked country within the geographical territory of South Africa, yet founded as a distinct, independent nation in 1822. The area here is very mountainous and has a unique weather pattern, experiencing very cold spells in winter, often with snow.Among the population of nearly 2.3 million, over 49% are Roman Catholics, followed by various Christian and non-Christian faiths. In 2021, the SDA Reform Movement was introduced in Lesotho by missionaries from Zimbabwe. These brethren have been commuting back and forth from their native country to share the message with souls in the western cities of Maseru and Mafeteng, to answer the call of keeping the fourth commandment as revealed in Scripture.More than 600 souls have been reached and have confirmed their understanding of the Sabbath, and 259 of these have attended church. In April 2023, by the grace of God, 14 souls were baptized as the first fruits of these outreach efforts. The church is now registered and is officially operating in this country. Now there is a great need for a chapel since the church has been operating from homes and rented apartments. Our greatest challenge is that this country suffers greatly from unemployment and our members are not working, plus the citizens are greatly embedded in their cultural practices. We therefore humbly appeal to all the brethren around the world to kindly give a helping hand for us to:• buy a piece of land and build a humble chapel with an office to serve as a shining light for visitors and interested souls;• establish a school to help the young. Sadly, Lesotho has many idle teenagers who are financially disadvantaged, leading them to drop out of school;• buy a tent and chairs to provide camp meetings;• secure an 18-passenger van to bring the souls to our meetings; and• purchase a printing press for literature.Let those who have been touched by the Holy Spirit, from far and near, old and young, male and female, donate generously towards these special needs—and God shall surely refill their pockets.May the Lord continue to bless you in advance for your hearty contributions to the chapel and missionary projects here. Amen.
Your brothers and sisters from Lesotho
