It’s interesting to notice the difference: The unbelieving atheist vs. the soul who believes in Jesus Christ as the Hope and Saviour of all who come to Him.
From my early years, I remember the sight of sunbeams trying to peek their way through a gray, overcast sky and pessimistically thinking, “Look at those ugly clouds blocking our view of the sun.”
But after inviting Jesus into my heart, the same scene would evoke a totally different response:
“Amazing! Isn’t it beautiful to see how God sends those few glorious rays of sunshine to manage to pierce their way through the clouds and bring us hope in the midst of darkness and gloom!”
It all depends on your perspective—and Christ changes the perspective of all who come to Him in sincerity.
Indeed, as the Creator declares, “There is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else” (Isaiah 45:21, 22).
So when things are looking bleak, remember the words of the prophet, “When I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me” (Micah 7:8).
God has a great plan to enlighten the pathway of every youth. The messenger of the Lord writes:
“I wish every young man and woman could appreciate the value of the human soul. If they would give themselves to Jesus just as they are, though sinful and polluted, He will accept them the very moment that they give themselves to Him, and Jesus will put His Spirit in the humble seeker's heart. Whosoever cometh unto Him, He will in no wise cast out. You may love Jesus with your whole heart, and He will never disappoint that love and confidence.”—Our High Calling, p. 98.
“Live up to every ray of light that you have received. Your eternal interests are involved here, and that is why I say, ‘Cherish every ray of light.’ On your knees ask Christ to impress your heart by His Holy Spirit, and turn not away from His law.”—Evangelism, p. 243.
